Time for tea

This week I have another quick make with a Christmas theme - either for your Christmas tea time or as a gift - for a tea loving friend or relative.

Requirements  30" - 40" square calico  - (dependant on size of cosy to be made)
                         30" -  40" square wadding
small amounts of Christmas fabrics in greens for the holly leaves and the binding.
scraps of red for the berries.
                         green and red sewing threads
                         small amount of fusible web
Big Shot Machine and die 658184

I cut 2 pieces of calico, and 2 pieces of wadding into oval shapes, large enough to easily cover my teapot, so when folded it forms a semi-circle - one side is the right side and the other side becomes lining.
Cut 2" strips of bias binding from your green fabrics ( or you could use calico for the binding) enough to make a 30" strip - you can join pieces together to make this length.
Iron the fusible web onto the wrong side of the green fabrics and  cut 9 leaves in a selection of sizes
using the Big Shot and die   658184
Fuse the web onto the back of the red fabric and cut out approx. 6 berries.

With the calico folded in half position some leaves on each piece - as in the photo.
When happy with the arrangements iron in place, open out the calico and stitch the leaves in place just through 1 thickness. Add the berries and stitch in place.

Layer the pieces together to create a sandwich as in the photo.
Pin all layers together - leaving the folded edges unpinned.

Fold binding in half along the length and press. Pin and sew around the raw edges of the cosy, turn to the other side and slip stitch in place.
Now all you need to do is make a cup of tea and put your feet up - another present is complete.
